2024 Achievements:

Building Foundations for the Continuity of Rare & Exceptional Crafts:

  • Establishment: The ARCH, the Alliance for Rare Crafts Heritage, was founded by four key partners: Heritage Crafts (UK), Workshop Intangible Heritage (Belgium), Heritage NL (Canada), and 1720 (Germany).

  • Global Reach: Through a series of events and media campaigns, we connected with rare crafts experts across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

  • Youth Engagement: The Young Living Craft Activists (YLCA), our youth-led social media campaign, sparked enthusiasm for living heritage among the younger audience, reaching over 30,000 accounts on Instagram within six months.

  • Partnerships: We established formal partnerships with organizations globally, enhancing our impact in celebrating and preserving rare crafts.

  • Team and Legal Status: We built a robust team of thinkers, creatives, and craft enthusiasts to guide The ARCH. Additionally, we established the legal entity and were granted charitable status, marking a significant milestone in our journey.

2025 Plans:

Building on Strong Foundations with Three Pillars:

  1. Assess & Capture:

    • Crafts Atlas and Crafts Bank: We will systematically assess and document rare crafts to ensure their legacy is captured for future generations.

  2. Preserve & Renew:

    • Physical Home for The ARCH: We aim to establish a dedicated space where experts and practitioners can come together to exchange knowledge and pass on some of the rarest craft skills.

  3. Stimulate Demand and Support Makers:

    • Our initiatives will focus on increasing the demand for handcrafted products and supporting the artisans who keep these crafts alive.
