Celebrating Rare Crafts

31st of August 2024

The last month has been very exciting for The ARCH, with a focus on much-needed rest for many. At The ARCH, it has been nothing short of amazing. The team has grown, and we are stronger than ever to fulfil our mission—more on this later. The ARCH has become a community of individuals enthusiastic about crafts, and we do not shy away from celebrating rare crafts whenever we have the opportunity. Creating these opportunities is also a significant part of our work. You, too, can become an active part of this movement.

"Lose Control" by Mircea Anghel: A Fusion of Chaos and Craftsmanship

"Lose Control" by Mircea Anghel is a captivating series of furniture that explores the rare craft of coppersmithing through the use of explosive energy. Anghel shapes copper volumes using controlled detonations in the Portuguese countryside, blending the unpredictable with meticulous craftsmanship. The result is a unique fusion of raw, naturally formed metal with hand-shaped wood, embodying the balance between control and chaos. This artistic process, documented by Frederico Velez, highlights the essence of controlled unpredictability.
